Beaulieu : Another type of bowl, the makkasu, occurs in YOS 19, 246: 5. 4 GiN bit-qa KU.GI te-sir-tu 6.r .M' ana ma-ak-ka-su sa dGASAN sa UNUGki "4 118 shekels of gold, supplementary delivery for the makkasu bowl of the Lady-of-Uruk."
Payne : Mathematically, this text presents a problem. To approximate the desired 55 3/4+ shekels given here, the mina weight is on the opposite side of the balance, the 5 shekel weight is added to the side of the gold (as stated in the text), but the 1 shekel weight should then go onto the side of the weights (each side weighing then roughly 61 shekels). As recorded, one side of the balance held a mina weight (60 shekels) and the other side held nearly 62 shekels in gold and weights.
